Travel lift expansion work is underway at the Cala Galera Marina in the municipality of Monte Argentario (GR)

SECTOR: Strutture portuali
LOCATION: Porto Turistico di Cala Galera, Comune di Monte Argentario (GR)
CLIENT: NAUTICA CALA GALERA Spa
PERIOD: 2024 – 2025
CONTRACTOR: SALES S.p.a.
VALUE OF WORKS: € 1.227.065,53
ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT:

The project involved strengthening the largest basin, increasing its lifting capacity to 570 tons and increasing the useful width for vessels from 10 to 11 m.

The work consisted of the construction of reinforced concrete foundation piles with a diameter of 800 mm, positioned externally to the existing adjacent piles. These piles are arranged at a distance of s = 1.2 m and have a length L = 12.0 m; on the seaward side, they are also covered with a steel jacket with a thickness of s = 6 mm to protect them from corrosion. Each side of the long beams was equipped with 31 piles, while the short side was equipped with 12 piles.

To widen the basin from 10.00 m to 11.00 m, the beam that forms the head of the quay and the runway for the crane wheels was rebuilt with a new alignment set back approximately 50 cm on each side further inward than the existing quay line.

Furthermore, in order to facilitate the movement of the crane by avoiding uncomfortable differences in level, the beam that forms the crane's runway, as well as the portion of flooring corresponding to the short side of the tank, have been placed at a height of +1.90 m above sea level, or 20 cm higher than the current state.
